Golf Shoes

Golf Shoes and the Game

Golf shoes can make or break the golfer's game. Therefore, it is vitally important that anyone, who plays the game, should be extremely careful when selecting footwear. By taking care in your selection, you will maximize your personal comfort and benefit your game. The first thing you must realize is that shoes designed for a special purpose, (such as golfing) may not fit your feet the same way as regular shoes.

You may not realize it but the dimensions of your foot can and will change over a period of time. The primary reasons for this may be gain or loss of bone density, weight gain or loss and skeletal shrinking, caused by age and osteoporosis. In addition, to the above factors, just plain old wear and tear on the feet, may cause the arches to fall and swelling of the feet by arthritis. These reasons are why it is so vital to have your foot measured for width and length, each time you buy golfing footwear or any footwear for that matter.

The question now comes up; "How do I ensure a good fit?"

Believe it or not, the first thing you should consider is the place where you are going to buy the footwear. It is not a good idea to too buy from the major discount stores. You will find that many of these discount stores may carry golfing footwear that may be cheap, but will be inferior in fit and design.

Arguably, the best place to purchase golfing footwear is the pro shop or a shop that specliazes in golfing equipment. One thing you must take into consideration is that when buying at the pro shop, the price you pay for the footwear will generally be higher than anywhere else. However, the selections will normally be of a very high quality. Also the pro shop and specialty stores will place a heavy discount on styles that have gone out of style or discontinued by the manufacture.

Yes, you should be aware of the price, but it should not be your only consideration for purchasing the footwear. Always keep in mind that your footwear will make or break your game. The fit and comfort of golf shoes should be the ultimate determing factor when making the purchase.

Golf Shirts

A Golf Shirt and Other Gift Ideas for the ‘Duffer’ in Your Life

A golf shirt as well as other golfing attire and equipment will make your favorite ‘Duffer’ a very happy person on gift giving occasions. Today’s ‘duffer’s seldom has enough golfing apparel or equipment. The true lover of the game will always ask for some type of clothing or golf equipment on birthdays, holidays and other special occasions. Think not, just ask him.

When trying to select a gift for your, ‘golfing addict’, you must always take into consideration his or her personality. This is extremely important when selecting his or her golfing outer garments. The older ‘duffer’ may prefer bright and gaudy colors that reflect the attitude of how important life is. Even though some of the more mature golfers prefer more subdued colors that blend well together. If your golfer is ‘all business’ then the button down collars and pockets would fit his or her personality. The casual guy or girl will appreciate simple colors that look good and fit well.

Tangled

Speaking of apparel that fits well, it is impetrative when selecting the golfing clothing that each item must be light weight, flexible, breathable and good looking. Obviously the weight and flexibility is important, so as not to restrict the even flow of the golfers swing. The breath ability of the garment is very important as it will allow the air to pass through too the players skin. Good looking and will fitting clothing are extremely important.

Most people do not even think about the garment being ‘good looking’ and well fitting affecting the golfer. Actually it’s quite important to the golfer’s ‘mental game’. If he or she sees them self as ‘squared away’ invariably the player’s mental attitude is one of confidence and stability. A positive mental attitude can literally win or lose the game for the golfer.

Naturally, it is not a good idea, to restrict your gift giving to that favorite ‘duffer’ to clothing. The majority of golfer’s love to receive new golf clubs and other equipment as gifts. A very wise course of action, when doing this, is to give them a gift certificate, as so many physical variables, of the golfer, enter into the proper selection of the right equipment.

If the gift is something as simple as the golf shirt or an expensive piece of golfing equipment, you can be assured your ‘Duffer’ will love it.

Golf Resort Wear

Golf Resort Wear

Golf resort wear is normally controlled by the dress code of each facility, whether private or public. The golfers must be aware of these codes or they will find themselves not being able to play or even be admitted to the facility.

If you are going to be traveling, out of your local area to play, you should take the time to call the location and verify the club dress code. Normally, speaking with the management staff or the pro golfer, you will be able to get all the information needed to determine the dress code. However, if you are pushed for time you may delegate this responsibility to your travel agent.

The more exclusive clubs may require you to observe more than one dress code. The attire for the course may be entirely different than what is allowed in the club house. This requirement will require a change of clothes before entering different parts of the club house. There are exceptions to this code to accommodate the members and guest.

In order to do this the clubs may have two separate eating areas. One of the eating areas may be where golfing attire may be worn and the other that requires more discretion in the style of clothes that may be worn. Often times this requirement is especially important in the evening time.

The majority of the more exclusive private clubs will only permit a light dinner jacket with shirt and tie. The ladies will also be required to wear dresses and well designed pants suits. These facilities will have certain evenings, such as Friday or Saturday, where formal attire must be worn.

Due to the social change, that has taken place, over the last two decades; many of the prestigious clubs have relaxed their code of dress. The end result, being, that the members and guest, have benefited from a much more, relaxed atmosphere, while visiting the club.

Even though a more relaxed atmosphere now exists at many facilities, each location will still be different. It is still the responsibility of the guest to determine what is appropriate for the golf resort wear.

Golf Apparel

The 2011-2016 World Outlook for Golf Equipment and Apparel

Golfers and Their Golf Apparel

One of the most important things a golfer should consider is his/her golf apparel. The wrong selection of clothing can actually add strokes to the golfers’ game. A good selection of golfing clothes can also subtract strokes from your score. Let's face it; we golfers are always looking for a way to lower our score.

During the cooler seasons, such as fall and spring, a well prepared golfer will always make sure they have their 'duffer' jacket with them. Early morning tee times can be more than a little brisk, even in areas with sub-tropical temperatures. Actually the players should consider two types of jackets, one for dry weather and one for the fog and misty days.

In your selection of these jackets you should always make sure that these jackets are smart looking. A good fitting and looking jacket will do wonders for your mental attitude. A major thing when selecting the jackets is to ensure that they are capable of keeping the upper body dry and warm. Be sure and try the jackets on, to determine that you have enough flexibility, to swing your clubs comfortably. Fit is as important in the jacket as it would be with trousers or a skirt.

A funny thing about the human species is their egos, especially, when it comes to waist sizes in trousers and skirts. The normal reaction is to wear the smallest waist size that you can fit into, whether it’s comfortable or not. Do not fool yourself when you are picking out clothing for playing the game of golf.

The golfer must absolutely be certain that the waist line, hips and legs are allowed to move freely when playing golf. If your legs, hips and waist are restricted, by the trousers you will again find yourself adding strokes to your game. Why should you chance it? Again, we must consider the same things when we look at the shirt or blouse for our golfing outing.

The shirts and blouses are an intricate part of the wardrobe for the golfer. The right selection will help you feel good about yourself and once again your mental game will improve. A good idea is to make sure that the material is flexible and breathes well. Flexibility again being the main focus here as it will allow you to swing smoothly and with accuracy. However, there is one part of your golfing wardrobe, which must be a perfect fit. Yep! You guessed it, the shoes.

When selecting golfing shoes, it is important to have your feet measured for width and length. The wrong size shoe can cause misery, discomfort and blisters shortly after starting your play. As you know on early morning tee off's, you will find the greens wet with dew or from the previous nights watering. Therefore you should pick shoes that are comfortable and moisture proof. However, the weather proofing should not be so heavy that it restricts the shoes from breathing. Your feet should be able to breathe, at all times, as you walk the fairway.

In conclusion all ‘duffers’ should make certain that their golf apparel looks good, fit's well and allows flexibility in your movements.

Golf travel case

Golf travel case

A Golf Travel Case Will Save Your Clubs

If you travel with your clubs you have to use a golf travel case to protect the clubs. This is more than a necessity when flying. Today’s baggage handlers could care less about how luggage is treated, much less a bag of clubs.
Have you ever watched how your luggage and clubs are loaded on an airplane? In most cases the luggage handlers have only minutes to load the cargo area and secure the luggage before takeoff. Each piece is tossed and manipulated onto the conveyor belt by almost any means possible. Once it gets past the hatch for the cargo bay, it then is moved just as quickly to a luggage pallet and thrown upon the pile or stacked on the bottom. If you are unlucky enough for your luggage and clubs to be on the bottom if they are not properly protected you may well get them back badly damaged.
FACT: You must protect your own clubs is risk major damage to them while traveling.
Most golfers realize that their clubs have certain fragility in the shaft and head of the club. Therefore when they are moved about they must be protected in some form or fashion. High technology today and completion have made it possible for all golfers to protect their clubs. The actual cost of protecting your clubs is going to depend on the type of bag you choose.
There are many styles of carrying bags with various strengths. Obviously the soft bag does not provide the same protection that a hard bag will. When traveling, especially by plane, the golfer will ensure the protection of his clubs by storing them in a hard, rigid container. The golfer should make sure that whichever container they select it should have proper padding, an excellent locking mechanism and easily read identification tag.
Obviously no one will look after your clubs better than you will. However, you can make sure that your clubs will be ready for play at your destination by taking a few precautions. The golf travel case will protect the investment you have in your clubs.
